One of the characters gravely affected by Damon and Enzo's situation is Bonnie. After all, one of the reasons why the evil creature manage to take control of Damon and Enzo was that they were trying to save her. Speaking to E! News, "The Vampire Diaries" showrunner Julie Plec revealed that Bonnie will be in a "terrible emotional place" in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.

"Two of the people she loves most in the world are in a bad spot, and she doesn't have the equipment to fix them or to help them," Plec explained Bonnie's dilemma. Although Bonnie survived a lot of difficulties in the past, this new problem dealt a heavy blow on her.

Currently, Bonnie does not have her magic, so she is rather incapacitated to help his friends. However, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 rumors suggest that Bonnie may resort to one fail-safe solution, and that is sacrificing her life.

Bonnie making the ultimate sacrifice in the upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 would awaken Elena. It is speculated that Elena is the only person that could save Damon, her being the person who managed to bring out the goodness in Damon.

If there's anything that fans have learned throughout all seven seasons of "The Vampire Diaries," it's that whenever someone loses all sense of humanity, it's always a deep emotional anchor that brings that person out of the darkness.

This direction also coincides with the fact that actress Kat Graham will exit the show after "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. According to TV Line, before Graham bows out of the show after being a regular since it premiered in 2009, "The Vampire Diaries" cast and crew is "going to blow it out" for the eighth outing.

Details about the creature in the vault has been kept in the dark ever since, but it was hinted that it "has the ability to get inside your heard and strip away everything good about you."

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will air on Oct. 21 on The CW.
