Having sex slaves is not an exclusive domain of the terror organization Islamic State. Occasionally, there would also be reports, usually of older men locking women captives who could be strangers they abducted or female relatives with whom they have sexual relations and even children.

Shandong Police recently discovered one case in China involving an 80-year-old male farmer and a mentally ill woman who served as his sex slave and bore him a child, reported South China Morning Post. In her middle age, the woman had a baby daughter in June while locked inside a small room at the back of the farmer’s house in Liaocheng.

The community was aware the old farmer had locked up the mentally ill woman in his shack, but the attitude of most of them is it is not a crime. Neighbors even reported the birth to a local TV station as some sort of a miracle. When the TV crew found the woman standing naked inside the room full of trash and feces, they contacted the police.

According to the farmer, detained now by the police, he found the woman on a roadside several years ago and provided her food and shelter. If he did not do that, the woman who have died of hunger, the farmer reasoned. The woman is now in a mental institution undergoing treatment, while the baby is safe and well, although reports did not state in whose care the infant girl is now.

During World War II, Japan has made thousands of Korean, Chinese and Filipino women their sex slaves. Now called comfort women, these victims now grandmothers are being assisted by a charity fund in China launched by Yang Pil-seung, a South Korean professor who is the honorary head of a research institution in Konkuk University in Seoul, reported Yonhap News.
