"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 saw Meredith and Riggs getting hooked. It was pretty surprising for the fans, but more shock is in store for Owen, who is unaware about this development in Meredith's life.
It is a sure thing that when he does come to know about this, it will not be an easy task for him to digest it due to the complicated past between him and Riggs. In Season 2, both were at odds with each other for most of the time and even though the hostility was not visible, but the undercurrents were felt by the fans.
After knowing about Meredith's hookup, Owen will be shocked and even though he is trying to get over and move ahead, the revelation might have him relapse into the enmity mold. CarterMatt states that Owen will try to protect Meredith from Riggs, not only because he feels protective of her, but also because her late husband, Derek was a close friend. Well, it is pretty apprehensive considering his closeness to Derek. And, as Owen is almost like a brother to Meredith, he will try to keep Riggs away from Meredith.
In the past, Megan, Owen's sister was dating Riggs. But she discovered that he was cheating on her and when she was trying to move away from Riggs, in a helicopter, she disappeared mysteriously. It is true that it is not because of Riggs that she died, but Owen holds him responsible in a way and thus, would be anxious when he comes to know about his and Meredith's hookup.
Similarly, Meredith's half-sister, Maggie also has a crush on Riggs. Moreover, she had also revealed her feeling for Riggs to Meredith. Entertainment Weekly states, that when Maggie comes to know of them, she might end up confronting Alex, who had urged her to go after Riggs.
The upcoming season will see a lot of drama with April and Jackson as well as Jo and Alex's relationships unfolding, apart from Meredith and Riggs' hookup being revealed. The first episode of "Grey's Anatomy" Season 3 is slated for release on September 22, 2016.
