"Dragon Ball Super" may have a similar story arc with the upcoming "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" game. The speculations started when viewers saw the seemingly similar insignia spotted in the ring worn by Goku Black and on the head of "Xenoverse 2" evil characters Janemba and Broly.
Goku Black's ring is actually some sort of time machine, as it allows him to travel to the past and forces him to go back to the future. There are also speculations that Black Goku is not really the future self of Goku, instead, he is probably some powerful entity who simply took the likeness of Goku.
The Dark Ki he is exhibiting may indicate that he is actually a demon of some sort. Those who played the first installment of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" may remember that the game's storyline involved powerful demons going back and forth in time.
Since both "Dragon Ball Super" and "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" feature the same characters virtually, there is a possibility that Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama is planning to merge the storyline of the two, according to Forbes. Fans would have to wait for quite some time to see if such theory is true or not.
Meanwhile, the origin of Black Goku has yet to be tackled in the show. Beerus said that he know little of the dark ki, as another character, Kai Zamasu, also uses dark ki. Many believed that the two dark ki users are in a way related, but there is little evidence to back up this theory. In one episode, Goku Black said that pain makes him stronger, and if this declaration is true, then it is probably due to the dark ki.
"Dragon Ball Super" is an animated show currently being shown in Japan. The show could be watched with English subtitles; however, an official English dubbed release has not yet been announced.
"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2," on the other hand, is a video game set to be release on Oct. 25 in the United States and Oct. 28 in Europe. The upcoming game will be available in PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
