The WWE introduced the Cruiserweight Classic tournament this year in hopes of focusing the spotlight on talents around the world. According to the latest rumors, the WWE could bring back the Cruiserweight championship to television after the brand split or at the conclusion of the CWC.

In an appearance on the Fan Garage, former WWE World Heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan discussed the 32-man tournament. He was asked about his thoughts on the cruiserweights getting recognition, as well as bringing back the cruiserweight title.

"If you look at the WWE roster today, everybody is a bit smaller because now, fans want more action which requires more mobility, which requires you to be a bit lighter," Bryan said.

The CWC color commentator added that he would not be surprised if the WWE brings back the cruiserweight championship. He noted that it will all come down to the plans for the brand extension and the success of the Cruiserweight Classic.

However, the winner of the CWC is expected to receive a trophy and not a championship. Nonetheless, having a cruiserweight division is good for television since, as Bryan mentioned, fans love watching high-flying wrestling matches.

According to The Inquisitr, the brand extension is the best time to re-introduce the cruiserweights to the casual fans since the CWC can only be watched on the WWE Network. But fans will have to wait for the WWE Draft or the final result of the CWC to find out what the company's plans for the cruiserweights moving forward.

The WWE Cruiserweight championship was retired on July 22, 2007 and the last champion was none other than Hornswoggle. The diminutive wrestler was an okay character but it is a very bad decision to make the last Cruiserweight champion ever.

It diminished the history of the title that was held by wrestling legends such as Jushin Thunder Liger, Brian Pillman, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero. The cruiserweight division could be a way to make SmackDown watchable again, opposite to the expected women's division of Raw.

The mid-to-lower mid card wrestlers will have something to fight for and could pave the way to be a world champion. Some of the former cruiserweight champions that went on to become WWE world champions include Mysterio, Jericho and Guerrero.
