NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal and WWE superstar Big Show has been teasing a potential match in the future. According to the latest rumors, Shaq vs. Big Show seems to be confirmed and it will likely happen in Orlando at WrestleMania 33.
The feud between the two behemoth athletes started in July 2009 when Shaq was the guest host of Monday Night Raw. He got into a physical confrontation with Big Show during a segment wherein Shaq got the upper hand.
The follow up to that feud got delayed for seven years until the four-time NBA champion made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 32. He was the celebrity entrant for the 3rd Annual Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Shaq and Big Show got into each other's faces after chokeslamming Kane and eliminating one superstar each. However, they did not last in the match as they were both thrown out of the ring by all the participants at the same time.
During the 2016 ESPYS red carpet, Big Show challenged Shaq to match at WrestleMania 33. According to Sporting News, both stars agreed to face off in Orlando next year but it has not been made official by the WWE.
Nevertheless, the WWE seems to be promoting Shaq vs. Big Show at WrestleMania to all its talents. WWE superstars and staff were instructed to promote the match on social media last weekend. The company is also going to heavily promote it for the next eight months, Cageside Seats reported.
If the match is indeed going to happen, it will not be the first time that Big Show will be facing a star athlete on the biggest stage of them all. He battled and lost to boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a No Disqualification Match at WrestleMania 24.
On the other hand, Shaq is known to be a lifelong wrestling fan and he has been involved with different wrestling promotions over the years. He made several appearances on WCW back in 1994, including in the Bash at the Beach that year.
The Diesel also appeared in a backstage segment with Hulk Hogan and TNA Wrestling in 2012. However, his match against Big Show will be his first ever.
