Madison McLaughlin will be back as Evelyn Crawford and as superhero Artemis; Carly Pope as Susan Williams; Rick Gonzales as DC Comics vigilante Wild Dog; Chad Coleman as gangster Tobias Church and Tyler Ritter as SCPD's Detective Malone. The casting update came after it was speculated that some members of the Team Arrow may not appear in the new season after Season 4 ended with much confusion in the Star City.

In the upcoming Comic Con 2016 preview of TV Guide which was shared on Twitter, showrunner Wendy Mericle hinted that the new villain in "Arrow" Season 5 was created by Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) in Season 1. Mericle confirmed that the new villain will be a threat to Oliver Queen and to Team Arrow. She also added that Season 5 will be full of crime, corruption and gang activity.

It was earlier reported that Tobias Church (Chad L. Coleman) will be the big bad character in Season 5 raising more speculations that he could be the new villain in The CW drama. Church is a major threat to Green Arrow as he unites all the villains in the city.

In May 2016, Amell hinted that a new villain is coming to "Arrow" Season 5. He declined to give further details, but he added that the villain does not have superpowers.

"I've heard that our big bad, our villain, is something that you can really only do once you're in the fifth, sixth or seventh season of a TV show," Amell told Variety in an interview. Despite the absence of superpowers, Green Arrow will still need the assistance of his team to overthrow the villain.

"Arrow" Season 5 will also focus on Team Arrow's new member Curtis Holt aka Mr. Terrific. The new season will premiere on Oct. 5.
