"Once Upon a Time" is busy casting new characters for the upcoming sixth season. According to latest developments, "24" star Giles Matthey has been billed to play Morpheus.
If you're thinking "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 is going to explore the world of science fiction, think again. This Morpheus does not refer to Lawrence Fishburne's character in the three-part "The Matrix" series. Rather, Morpheus is based on Greek mythology. According to Entertainment Weekly, Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams.
The character Matthey is about to play is described as insightful and very good at reading people, the same way he is good at concealing his own motives. His role will most likely intertwine with Belle's (Emilie de Ravin) storyline in "Once Upon a Time" Season 6, since she is currently in deep slumber due to a curse.
The introduction of the Land of Untold Stories paves the way for the arrival of new faces in Storybrooke, and the possibilities as to the story are endless. The Land of Untold Stories will bring out different characters and different stories from all corners of literature. Showrunner Edward Kitsis previously said that telling new stories will "broaden the show and move forward."
Two other characters are also set to make their debut on "Once Upon a Time" Season 6. TV Line reported that the show is casting for the roles of Sinbad and Scheherazade.
Sinbad is described as "quick-witted hero" who is kind, but has somehow lost faith in his leadership skills. Scheherazade, on the other hand, is a beautiful female spinner. She's a tough cookie and will dare go head-to-head even with the most fearsome of foes. Both characters hail from "One Thousand and One Nights."
Even though they are the only new characters confirmed so far, fans can expect more people to pop up in Storybrooke in "Once Upon a Time" Season 6.
"In season six, I think we are going to see some new villains," Lana Parrilla, who plays Regina on the show, teased. "And some old villains are going to resurface and surprise us in ways that we weren't expecting."
"Once Upon a Time" Season 6 will premiere on Sept. 25, Sunday.
