Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump may win this year's election in the United States, filmmaker Michael Moore believes so. Moore told "Real Time" host Bill Maher on July 20, Wednesday, that the candidate will be the country's next president.

The liberal filmmaker expressed his thought that it may sound crazy that millions of Americans are having a good laugh at what had been transpiring in the political arena. However, Trump could win.

"But the truth is that this plays to a lot of people that he has to win to become the next president," Moore told Maher. "I'm sorry I have to be the buzzkill here so early on, but I think Trump is going to win."

The audience gasped and started to boo but Maher seemed to realize Moore was on to something. He told him he should say it, that Trump could win, according Hollywood Reporter.

Moore was on "Real Time with Bill Maher" GOP convention special on July 20 as Maher took the stage at his studio in Los Angeles to take part in the four-day Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio. It was RNC Day 3 with the theme "Make America First Again" which speakers included Newt Gingrich, Ted Cruz and Mike Pence.

The documentary filmmaker Moore was one of Maher's guests, along with "Savage Love" columnist or LGBT rights activist Dan Savage, and MSNBC host Joy-Ann Reid. The audience gasped when Moore stated his belief that Trump will win the election.

The panelists then talked about the reading habits of Trump, and the quality of government his sons will bring. Maher also talked to Tony Schwartz, Trump's ghostwriter in "Art of the Deal" who lately criticized the presidential candidate lately. Schwartz called Trump a "sociopath" who will bring civilization to its end.

Maher was one of the late-night hosts who aired special episodes of the Republican convention. Others include Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah, Samantha Bee and Seth Meyers.

Trump had formally accepted the presidential nomination from the Republican party, with a promise to restore law and order. Talking about recent attacks, the candidate addressed supporters and delegates that he will end violence and crime that have been afflicting the country these days. He promised to restore safety by Jan. 20, 2017, Aljazeera reported.
