"Dangerous Woman" and "Into You" singer and young superstar Ariana Grande have called it quits and broken up with her boyfriend, Ricky Alvarez, after one year.
There were no third-parties involved in the break up between the two, according to a source who told E! Online. They still remain as good friends and had broken up only because they found it difficult to manage each other and make things work for their relationship.
They were first seen together on the same month last year, July 2015, when they were spotted kissing in the controversial #Donutgate footage. In the said surveillance footage, Grande was seen licking donuts on a donut shop as a dare.
Fans who obsessively follow her Instagram account have also observed and become aware that the singer had deleted all of her photos that involved and included Alvarez on them. There were also certain tweets from Grande that alluded to this forthcoming separation, written as "Life is wild... and change is f---king fantastic!"
Although these tweets were a direct reference to a complete makeover of her signature hair, there is a correlation between women changing their hairstyles when they experience break ups, according to Hello Giggles. This could very well be a foreshadowing of her separation with the 25 year-old backup dancer.
Before the break up, Grande, a month after the doughnut incident, said in an interview that she was happy with her life and have confirmed her relationship with Alvarez. While the couple kept their romance private as much as they could throughout the year, there were occasions where they were seen making out with each other in public.
Before Grande dated Alvarez, she had a relationship with rapper Big Sean for eight months before separating as well in April 2015, and the reasons for it were similar to her most recent breakup. Big Sean and Grande just did not seem to work out, and it was only due to conflicting and tight schedules.
Grande said that she did not have a hard time moving on after her break up with the rapper because they still remained as friends. Her two latest breakups did not involve scandalous infidelities.
