Mozilla has recently added new features for their Firefox iOS app which is claimed to provide faster load times and consumes less battery power compared to previous versions.

The new Mozilla Firefox v5.0 app for the iOS platform offers several improvements with regards to the overall browsing experience and battery consumption. Mozilla has recently just launched the Firefox for iOS after giving into Apple's condition of using their own WebKit rendering framework instead of the Gecko engine that is originally used in the browser.

Because of the late development in the iOS platform, the Firefox app has fallen behind its Android counterpart. Nevertheless, the new update could finally bring it up to speed.

Mozilla's development team claims that there is a 40 percent reduction in the Firefox v5.0 iOS app's CPU usage and up to 30 percent reduced RAM usage, Mac Rumors has learned. Of course, the overall percentages can still vary from each device to another.

There are also other improvements with the user interface of the Firefox iOS app. One of the new additions is a new menu for the frequently used features of the user so that they won't have to dive into the depths of the other menus to find what they are always looking for.

Mozilla's Firefox v5.0 app for the iOS now also has an undo recently closed tabs option, Phone Arena reported. In addition, the home button is also made customizable which allows user to freely navigate more websites with a single tap.

Of course, there are also other bug fixes and minor improvements that improves the overall browsing experience of the iOS user for Firefox. Users can now also set their preferred website for when the homepage of the app opens up.

Another nifty feature is the Close All Tabs option which allows the user to quickly shut down all of the currently open tabs without having to tap on them one by one. This saves time and battery power in the long run.

iOS users can now download the Firefox v5.0 update automatically or manually through the Apple App Store. Users can now enjoy faster browsing without having to consume more of the battery power.
