In December 2014, Presidential daughter Malia Obama caused a social media storm when she was photographed wearing tight jeans which an NFL player reposted on Instagram.
On Thursday, the Democratic National Convention ended in Philadelphia, but Malia was nowhere to be seen. She was at the Lollapalooza watching the Cashmere Cat set, reported Chicago Tribune. More than her presence at the music event, what she wore and did is now talk again of social media.
On Friday, the 18-year-old was seen talking in the Mac Miller set, although the daily pointed out it is not Malia’s first attendance at the largest music festival in Chicago since she also created a stir in 2014 when she was seen at the set of Chance the Rapper.
People are particularly talking about Malia dancing to Mac Miller with her friend. New York Mag reported that in one shot, the teen flips up her skirt to reveal athletic shorts and her abs were visible. She was also seen twerking which Yahoo Music noted would “probably raise a few conservative eyebrows.” Trap yeezus warned, “Wait till Republicans see this smh.”
PJ Media pointed out that the event itself has become notorious for drug and alcohol abuse. In 2015, 34 concert goers were arrested and 238 were hospitalized.
However, unlike Trap yeezus who apparently found it wrong for the White House teen to enjoy herself, Yahoo Music noted that the many in the Lollapalooza crowd “find it refreshing that Malia is so laid back and so unapologetically normal.” NYMag added that the Lollapalooza crowd in the 1990s were wilder in comparison which was the era when the Bush twins “were getting ready for their reign of boozy Texas terror.”
