The torrent hosting platform Torcache.net is nowhere to be seen after KickassTorrents was taken down. However, the latest update is that iTorrents may replace Torcache and become the biggest torrent hosting platform soon.
KickassTorrents used to utilise the services of torrent hosting platform Torcache.net. Even though these two websites are not officially connected, the demise of KickassTorrents drastically affected Torcache.net. Numerous other websites such as Monova and 1337x.to used to also depend on Torcache.net and they are left hanging in the balance.
In place of Torcache.net, now iTorrents, is trying to position itself as its replacement. It also has a very similar look and feel to Torcache and provides a dedicated platform for storing torrents.
iTorrents is a free service and currently its users include TorrentDownloads.me, 1337x and LimeTorrents.cc. Numerous KickassTorrents mirror sites have also joined iTorrents.
In lieu of the increased traffic, the owners of iTorrents are planning to increase the servers and upgrade their services as well, according to by Torrent Freak. There are other torrent storage platforms available but currently, iTorrents seems to be in the top spot.
After KickassTorrents owner Artem Vaulin was arrested by Polish police officers on numerous counts of copyright infringements, many alternatives have sprung in its place, according to another report by Torrent Freak. Alternatives such as Kat.am and KickassTorrents.website immediately sprung up but they had to be taken down following a legal notice by the Motion Pictures Association.
In some time, other mirror sites such as Kickass.cd, Kickass.mx and Kickass.la cropped up and are functioning now in this space and new torrents are being added daily to them. In the absence of KickassTorrents, the mirror websites are ensuring that its brandname is very much alive.
KickassTorrents used to be a worthy competitor to The Pirate Bay and was also one of the largest torrent websites in the world. However, in light of the legal troubles of KickassTorrents, The Pirate Bay is slowly reclaiming back the its marketshare.
