Famous actor Bradley Cooper is developing a miniseries for HBO, which is based on Joby Warrick's non-fiction book "Black Flags: The Rise of ISIS," a 2016 Pulitzer winner.

Warrick made the announcement via Twitter on Thursday, saying that he is delighted to make the news public, Huffington Post reported. Later, on Friday, the author told Reuters that it is entertainment but not purely entertainment. He said that the story is in good hands. According to him, Cooper and Todd Philips, his partner from their production company, Joint Effort, had visited him at the beginning of this year with the idea of adapting the book.

Talking about Cooper's interest, he said that it felt flattering to know that there was a film interest but there was also anxiety as he wondered about its transformation. Revealing further details, he said that he would not be writing the script but the film team has made him feel like a partner, by asking for his input. He was impressed with the integrity of their ideas.

As for Cooper, the actor hopes that the series would help Americans understand the journey of the world's most feared terrorist group. Though no casting or air date has been announced, the work is in progress and Cooper plans to dramatize events in the book, Deadline reported.

Notably, the author's book explores the rise of the Islamic State Militants into a dreadful terrorist organization. It traces the journey of the terrorist group from a remote Jordanian prison to a successful jihadist ensemble in Syria. Last but not the least, it sheds light on the small band of American and international agents too, who were tasked with the assignment of shutting down the group.

Well, the subject of ISIS is of interest to Americans and it seems Cooper would do justice to the book. Though he is well-known for his roles in movies like "The Hangover" and "American Sniper," he has also tried hands in production.

His production company is ready with a comedy project called "War Dogs." It deals with the subject of arms dealing in war-torn Afghanistan and is all set to be released on August 19, 2016.
