In case you haven't heard, "The Flash" Season 3 is definitely adapting the "Flashpoint" storyline from the comic books. Basically, the "Flashpoint" paradox is the end result of Barry Allen's decision to save his mother in the Season 2 finale.
"Flashpoint" may be a rather complex arc, but it is one of the most interesting in the realm of DC Comics. Here, Barry wakes up to find out that everything that he has known has changed. What this means for fans is that everything they saw in Seasons 1 and 2 have been erased as if they never happened at all.
Barry saving his mother altered the entire timeline, affecting the other heroes and villains. However, he is able to remember his memories from the alternate timeline as well as the current "Flashpoint" timeline, E! News reported. While Barry remembers not growing up with his parents, he also has memories of celebrating his college graduation with his parents and other such memories that did not exist in the original storyline but match his current altered universe.
This opens up a lot of opportunities for the other characters as well. Wally could actually appear as Kid Flash. There's even a rumored Batman appearance, considering that Bruce Wayne (Thomas Wayne in "Flashpoint"), is the one who helped Barry regain his Speed Force in the comics.
While most of what Barry knows may have undergone a complete 360 degrees change, there's one conflict that remains. In "The Flash" Season 3, Matt Letscher, who plays Reverse Flash, teased that there's still some tension between his character and The Flash despite the altered timeline.
"It's not making us any closer. I don't think the Flash and Reverse Flash will ever see eye-to-eye on anything," Letscher told Comic Book Resources. He added that Barry is in trouble in the season 3 premiere.
In related news, a very familiar face is joining the cast of "The Flash" Season 3. "Harry Potter" alum Tom Felton has been cast as a series regular. He plays Julian Dorn, who works as a CSI at the Central City Police Department. He becomes suspicious of Barry, believing that there's more to him "than just his good guy reputation."
Talking about his role, Felton said, "As far as I know, [my character] didn't exist in the previous timeline, so I'm glad that [Barry] has changed something, so now I'm alive."
Will Felton's Julian Dorn be a villain to The Flash? "The Flash" Season 3 returns to The CW on Oct. 13.
