Ed Decter, the executive producer and the man behind the small screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" book series, abandoned "Shadowhunters" after its freshmen season. The Freeform dark fantasy drama series was renewed for season two, but the new showrunner has yet to be identified.

It was not too long ago when Decter left the TV series, according to Deadline. He was reportedly a "No Show" during the last "Shadowhunters" season two table read.

No specific reason can be attributed to his departure for now. However, there are talks suggesting that the reason was creative differences. With Decter out of the scene, the new executive producer will be required to make creative changes to the story arc of "Shadowhunters."

Nevertheless, Decter's exit will have no impact on the production that is underway for the next season.

On the other hand, the sudden departure of the "Shadowhunters'" ex-showrunner is still surprising. With the fact that Decter has spoken about his plans for the sophomore season of the Freeform dark fantasy series in numerous interviews, it was hard to imagine that he would exit the series anytime soon.

At the moment, Decter has not yet made public his true reason for leaving the show.

Moving on, despite the loss of its creator, the TV series has picked up two surfboards during the 2016 Teen Choice Awards, according to Just Jared Jr. The said event took place at The Forum on Sunday, July 31, in Inglewood. It was attended by the cast of the series.

Freeform's "Shadowhunters" was recognized at the Choice Breakout Show. Moreover, Matthew Daddario, who plays Alec Lightwood in the series, won the surfboard for Choice TV: Breakout Star.

Joining Daddario at the annual awards show are co-stars Katherine McNamara (Clary Fray), Emeraude Toubia (Isabelle Lightwood), Dominic Sherwood (Jace Wayland), Alberto Rosende (Simon Lewis) and Harry Shum Jr. (Magnus Bane). Later at the event, McNamara and Toubia attended a press con.

These two awards may prove that the show has a lot of potential. The Freeform breakout series received high rating when Season one premiered. Despite a slide in the ratings for the succeeding episodes the show somehow stabilized throughout the first season. The Effects of Decter's exit to "Shadowhunters" Season 2 still remains to be seen.
