"Game of Thrones" fans, who were not happy with the fantasy series ending, here is good news; George R.R. Martin will be back on television with a new TV series "Wild Cards."
Martin has given the rights for the anthology series to Universal Cable Productions (UCP). Several television series like "Being Human," "Mr. Robot," and "The Magicians" have been produced by the company. The author made the announcement for his fans on his personal blog, Live Journal, that UCP has picked the series for development.
But, Martin's special development agreement with HBO does not allow him to work on the project. So, he will not be working on the project, Los Angeles Times reported. But, his touch will be added to the series by his assistant editors, Gregory Noveck and Melinda Snodgrass. Noveck and Snodgrass, will work as the executive producers of the proposed show. Martin is hopeful that the duo along with UCP will be able to give the right shape to the series.
Martin further wrote on his blog that "Wild Cards" has over thousands of stories and these are not limited to books, graphic novels and games. It is a lot more and is like a universe like DC and Marvel. Moreover, the series has a wide range of characters with small and big roles, which will require a large cast.
Well, the first volume of "Wild Cards" was published for the first time in 1986 and so far, the series had twenty- two publications done under different authors. This month, a part of the series, titled, High Stakes will be released and three more are going through the development process.
With only two more seasons left before the series "Game of Thrones," ends, it can well be said that the news is nothing short of thrilling for the fans. The captivating Westeros world created magic and had the fans wanting more. And, now with another series in the pipeline, one can only wish that it will be another piece of magic. Martin has his hopes high on the series, "Wild Cards" hitting the television screen within a year or two.
