What people know as the Happiest Place on Earth has just got a bit more expensive, as ticket prices for the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World in Florida will increase starting Feb. 22, Sunday.
DlandLive reported that for one-day passes, adult tickets will change from $96 to $99 and children tickets from $90 to $93. Two-day passes will be from $178 to $185 for adults and from $165 to $172 for childre, with a park hopper add-on of $40 from $39. And so on.
According to Orange County Register, Suzi Brown, Disneyland Resort spokeswoman, said, "A day at a Disney Park is unlike any other in the world, and there is strong demand for our attractions and entertainment. We continually add new experiences, and many of our guests select multi-day tickets or annual passes, which provide great value and additional savings."
Some visitors are not happy about the news, taking to social media to vent their frustrations. They said it is ridiculous for Disney to do such a thing and that it is sad to think that going to the "Happiest Place on Earth" requires more expenditure.
However, others remained positive about the price hike.
Andrea Bradshaw of Corona stated "In comparison to say a concert ticket to a well known artist, Disneyland ticket prices are not that high for the level of entertainment you get in the parks."
High record of attendance is said to be the main reason for the price changes at Disney theme parks. Theme Park Entertainment released a statement saying 16.2 million visitors were recorded at Disneyland in 2013. CFO Ray Rasulo also told investors that the attendance in the last quarter was up by 7 percent at Walt Disney World.
It was only in May last year that Disneyland most recently increased their prices.
