Now that the trailer of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is out, one cannot help but admire Felicity Jones for giving her character Jyn Erso an awesome portrayal on screen. She looks perfectly the part as a rebel, leading her band, but it was not easy for her to get into the mold.

Jones has revealed that it took a lot of hard work and training on her part to justify the role. In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, the actress said that director Gareth Edwards was considering her for the role of the big sister who leads the band of brothers. To get her on board, they met early morning in a hotel restaurant and discussed the role. However, it was a very secret affair as Edwards did not want anyone to overhear them.

Talking about the training she underwent to do the stunts, the 32-year-old said that she might be laughing at it now but it was physically exhausting and took hours of practice. A kung fu coach helped her learn to fight. In an interesting revelation, she said that fighting and beating Stormtroopers was something she had not thought she would do as a job, but she managed to do it with hard work, practice, and rehearsal.

Shedding light on Jyn Erso's character, Jones said that she is absolutely a very unlikely heroine. Her 5-foot-3 stature is clearly a mismatch for a war heroine but it also gives her an underdog appeal and amplifies her charm. She might be smaller than others around her but she believes in herself and it motivates her. It gives her enormous strength.

Jones also said that Jyn is not alone and has a role model in the form of Mon Mothma, who she not only respects but also looks up to. Talking about the rise of women in society, she said that fantasy has the power to change reality for the better. According to her, showing more female action heroes is vital. Since women are becoming leaders of nations, films should also be reflecting it.
