At first glance, the two Marvel comic book superheroes may have very little similarities with each other. However, a report posted on Movie Pilot has identified the characteristics that Doctor Strange and Iron Man may have with the other.

Many moviegoers enjoyed Downey Jr.'s depiction of Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man. The actor has portrayed his Marvel role in several standalone "Iron Man" films, as well as in two "Avengers" movies. The mustached genius billionaire also played a critical role in "Captain America: Civil War." On the other hand, Cumberbatch's upcoming "Doctor Strange" movie will the first time that the British actor will play a role in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

Avid Marvel comic book fans would know that "Doctor Strange" features a plot that tackles mysticism and magic. The upcoming film may be different from the "Iron Man" movies in terms of storylines. However, both films also have similarities such as having a flawed and broken character playing the role of a superhero.

Downey Jr.'s films, where he portrayed the Marvel hero, has featured the character's various flaws such having a huge ego, as well as his battle against inner demons. The same can be said for Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, as indicated in the same report. The "Sherlock" actor's character went through a challenging situation from being a famous surgeon to a lost man who damaged his hands after a car accident. A life changing situation that transpired in each of the two Marvel characters' lives marked the start of their superhero journey.

The same report also described both Marvel characters as men who have achieved great success only to "fall from grace" several times. It even highlighted the success of the "Iron Man" movie franchise and made mention of how it paved the way for the release of other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In other news, Cumberbatch has shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that his Marvel character's ability to overcome hardships would be the trait that has made him a superhero. He spoke about Doctor Strange's journey and how his true strength lies in his refusal to give up despite the odds.

Fans can look forward to seeing the British actor in action when "Doctor Strange" hits movie theaters in November.
