Avid fans of the popular 1980's cartoon "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" will soon see a movie reboot of the show. Director McG has recently shared the status of the said movie and has even commented on how "Game of Thrones" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" will influence the upcoming reboot.

The "Charlie's Angels" filmmaker recently sat down with IGN to discuss the many elements and aspects needed to create the "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" movie reboot. The film is currently in the early stages of planning, with the director attending meetings with film executives about the project. McG also shared that he and his writing team have been busy polishing up the movie's script.

When asked about the tone of the movie, the director made mention of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the work that Kevin Feige has accomplished in the Marvel films. He also mentioned the HBO hit TV series "Game of Thrones," as well as James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy." McG teased that they have carefully considered the elements that have made the two projects popular among TV viewers and movie fans.

The director described the HBO series and the Gunn's movie as incredible projects that has captured the attention of many fans. He teased that they would want to adapt some of the concepts, visuals and character elements that viewers saw and enjoyed in the two projects. However, he stated that he would want to raise the bar even more.

McG added that they are looking to present a movie reboot that would both be "inventive and original." The filmmaker also mentioned that the upcoming movie will "honor" and "respect" the "He-Man" fan base.

In other news, a new episode of the "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" cartoon was shown during the San Diego Comic-Con held in July. The animated featurette titled "The Curse of the Three Terrors" marked the first time that a new episode has been unveiled in 20 years, Entertainment Weekly reported.

The cartoon series first aired during the 1980's and even spawned a movie version that starred Dolph Lundgren. The series was also given an animated reboot that was released in the early 2000's.
