The next generation of Apple Watch has been reported before to feature 3G connectivity that would allow the device to connect and be less dependent on the iPhone. However, the tech-giant has hit roadblocks that would not allow them to do so until 2018. There had been speculations as well that the Apple Watch 2 will be released alongside the iPhone 7.

Instead of the 3G connectivity, the Apple Watch 2 will focus more in promoting its built-in GPS and other included fitness features. The GPS will not depend on any connectivity feature. In a report by Bloomberg, it mentioned that Apple had already communicated in the past with carriers who could provide the 3G connection to the upcoming Apple watch.

The same report added that one hindrance of the 3G connectivity application is the device's issues with battery life. The feature would require a large amount of battery capacity which would cause the Apple Watch to drain easily given with its current capability. This would also reduce product effectiveness and customer appeal.

As of the moment, Apple is already studying data chips which would utilize lower power for future smart watches. In terms of external features, the next iteration will not have any major changes. Most of its improvements will be focused internally by applying upgrades such as a faster processor and a higher battery capacity.

For its operating system, Apple has recently announced about the watchOS3. According to a report posted in Apple's official website, the watchOS3 will allow the next Apple Watch to launch the user's favorite apps instantly. The device will be felt more as a whole new watch because of its fitness and health features.

According to the same report, activity sharing will be directly connected to the Messages app. This will allow users to motivate and communicate with whoever they want to. The all-new Breath app on the other hand, will encourage users when and where to conduct their breathing exercises. After the session, a heart rate summary will be provided.

The watchOS3 will be made available by fall. For other details surrounding the Apple Watch 2, watch the video clip below.
