Home Wi-Fi connections are sometimes tricky because of their problematic coverage around a house but Netgear aims to resolve the issue by covering the whole are with a wireless blanket.

One of the common problems of the average household is the Wi-Fi coverage inside the house. All of the concrete, wood and other electronic devices can cause interference and impact the overall connection quality with the family members' gadgets.

Some homes have better connections than others due to the space advantages while some cannot even connect to the Wi-Fi when they leave the living room. Netgear aims to answer all those issues with their new multi-unit router dubbed Orbi, The Verge has learned.

The company is calling the Orbi a "Wi-Fi" system instead of the usual router because it serves a different yet highly similar purpose. Netgear's Orbi is touted as a combination of a range extender and a router that works together to blanket a home with Wi-Fi using specialized software for the optimal connection.

Users who buy the Netgear Orbi can place it anywhere in the house and it will be able to adjust to provide the best possible Wi-Fi connection quality, TechCrunch reported. It includes two other pieces of hardware that help complete the blanket of Wi-Fi around the home.

Whether the user is in the bathroom or at a room upstairs, they will still be able to connect to the Wi-Fi and browse through their social media accounts and whatnot. Netgear's Orbi costs $399 for the two-pack but the expensive price tag does have a reason.

The Netgear Orbi can blanket up to 4000 square feet of space in a home with strong Wi-Fi connection. Those who are looking to extend the space even further can buy another Orbi for $250 per piece and it adds 2000 square feet more to the already large blanket.

Netgear's Orbi supports 802.11ac both 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio frequencies plus another 5GHz radio for MU-MIMO that allows other Orbi units to transfer data across the large blanket. Netgear said that cheap routers end up being more expensive because they do not work as intended.
