The casting call for the upcoming "Game of Thrones" Season 7 may have teased of potential new characters in the HBO series. It also hinted of a story line that may feature a look at a young Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.
A casting list posted on Watchers on the Wall has revealed nine new characters that viewers may see in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. The said casting call list reportedly contains generic names or titles to avoid potential story or character leaks. The list includes a search for actors to play a confident gate guard, as well as a city guard and a merchant.
The HBO show has also included casting calls for several interesting characters that may potentially play a key role in the upcoming series. Role speculations posted on Cheat Sheet has identified likely "Game of Thrones" characters that may appear in Season 7.
The report speculated that the casting call for a general may pertain to the character Lord Jon Connington. Avid readers of George RR Martin's books may recall that the said character was placed into exile after he was defeated at the Battle of the Bells by Robert Baratheon. Prior to Connington's exile, he was considered as the Mad King's "Hand of the King," as indicated in the same report.
On the other hand, the casting call for a 60-year old priest has been speculated as a generic title for Maester Marwyn. The said character played a huge role in Samwell's (John Bradley-West) journey and dream to become a maester himself. Maester Marwyn may potentially appear in the HBO series' seventh season to guide Sam.
Meanwhile, the casting call for a young lord and a lovely lady may indicate that viewers will see more of Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) true birth parents in flashback scenes. The young lord may be a generic title for the young Rhaegar Targaryen, while the lovely lady may be a casting call for a young Lyanna Stark. Other character speculations listed in the said report included the potential introduction of the warrior Victarion Greyjoy and a new Dothraki lieutenant.
At this point, it is still unclear if these characters will appear in the upcoming Season 7 of the HBO series. Fans would have to wait for further spoiler news to learn more about the new season.
"Game of Thrones" Season 7 is expected to premiere in summer 2017.
