There is danger looming over Konoha in "Boruto: Naruto Next Generation" chapter 5. The ninja village is preoccupied with the Chunin exam when two villains drop by after sensing Naruto's kyuubi.
Sasuke had already suspected the danger when a mysterious scroll arrived in town. The scroll's message was concealed in mystery for some time as Konoha's experts worked diligently to decode its content. Sasuke eventually managed to decipher the message, and his anxiety grew to the extent that he asked the seventh Hokage to suspend the exam to allow them plan on how to counter an impending security threat.
Sasuke uncovered a devious plot by enemies whose objective was to capture Naruto's nine-tailed fox. Naruto has a strong and very powerful chakra inside his body. Since their childhood, the Hokage has been a subject of continuous attempts to seize his kyuubi, which could reportedly be harnessed into an extremely destructive weapon.
The villains who are set to strike Konoha are believed to be from the Otsutsuki clan, a group in which the Herculean Kaguya belonged to, according to Game N Guide. In case this is true, the two antagonists are just as extremely powerful as expected by Sasuke.
Apparently, the two villains are set to revive the God Tree so that they can harvest the fruit themselves, according to a different report by the same publication. Similar to what Madara Uchiha did before, the two Otsutsuki clan members need to collect all tailed beast chakra to start the process.
As Naruto gathers the village defense, it is unclear if he will welcome Sasuke's idea to suspend the Chunin exam for security reasons. On the other hand, the village chief was disappointed of Boruto's unethical conduct in the third phase of the exam. It was disheartening for Naruto to see his own son break one of the rules that he himself put in place.
Boruto seemingly cheated his way through the exam when he used Kote when fighting. Kote is a newly developed weapon created by scientists of Konoha, which enables ninjas to execute a ninjutsu strategy without exhausting too much life force. However, Naruto already claimed that such technological innovation would only defeat the purpose of studying and learning the Shinobi arts.
The Hokage seems to have already suspected Boruto's unauthorized use of the ninja device in the first phase. As Naruto lectures Boruto over the cheating incident, the aforementioned villains came out of nowhere and attacked. The Hokage responded fast and organized a defense force to get them.
