"Game of Thrones" actors Joe Dempsie who plays Robert Baratheon's bastard son, Gendry is in the Philippines and enjoying the feel of the country's history and culture. In HBO's adaptation of George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" books, characters either win or die. In case of Gendry, he was one of the few who did not literally get axed in the series.
Gendry was last seen in Season 3, bringing the warm feeling whenever he is with Arya Stark. Having exited the story sans a violent death oftentimes happened to characters who are naturally dispensed. However, since "Game of Thrones" has an unpredictable plot, no one can really tell if Gendry will get back to the storyline again.
Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss revealed about the fate of Gendry after he broke out of jail by the help of Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) and sent to King's Landing. He rode a boat and was rowing back to the capital. The illegitimate son of King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) is still rowing, the showrunners spoke in a "UFC Unfiltered" podcast in July, Express reported
If Dempsie's character will go back to the HBO series again, he wants Gendry to save the life of a character. Saving Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and his beautiful hair from death would be a nice way to return. Dempsie and Harington are friends but they never crossed paths on the set of HBO's massive hit.
The 29-year-old British actor is in the same age group with Harington, Alfie Allen, Richard Madden, Gwendoline Christie and Oona Chaplin. He missed them all but he loves Christie, the actress who plays Lady Brienne of Tarth, Dempsie revealed during the meeting with fans on Aug. 28, Sunday in Manila, Philippines.
Meanwhile, the Gendry actor is trying to figure out why Manila is now the city that it is and its people as they are. He is with his close friend Nick Hoult. The British actor is a headliner in the 2016 AsiaPop Comicon, meeting media members early night of Aug. 27, Saturday, at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City, Inquirer reported.
Dempsie is a lot older but still has his Gendry physique, especially his arms. He and Hoult star in the British hit series and comedy drama "Skins," who explores the lives of teens, substance abuse, alcohol, gender, mental disorders, dysfunctional relationships, sexuality and bullying.
The "Skins" stars rode a kalesa, a horse-drawn mode of transporation introduced in the Philippines in the 18th century. The duo visited Intramuros, Manila Cathedral, walked along Luneta Park and stopped by the monument of Filipino hero, Jose Rizal.
