Barely a year after R&B singer Chris Brown was denied visa by Australia to hold a concert because of his domestic violence conviction, the celebrity is back in the headlines over suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Fox News reported that the arrest of Brown was triggered by a woman’s call to 911 for help near the singer’s home in Los Angeles. The call was made at about 3 a.m. of Wednesday, but the female caller, Baylee Curran, was not inside Brown’s hilltop estate in San Fernando Valley.

According to LA Times, Brown pointed a gun at Curran who fled in fear. Authorities responded to the woman’s plea, resulting in hours-long standoff as LAPD officers stood outside the singer’s house but refused to let them in. During this time, Brown posted on social media several videos wherein he spoke against the police.

Brown was eventually arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. But the R&B singer was released at 11:15 p.m. after he posted bail of $250,000.

Curran and a friend, a business associate, went to the singer’s house upon Brown’s invitation. Curran went to talk to the musician about future projects. There was a small crown inside, including a man showing to Brown diamond jewelry. The man allegedly told her to stay away from the diamond necklace and cursed at Curran. It was the point when Brown pulled out a gun and ordered everyone out of his house.

She and her friend waited by the gate to request for her friend’s phone which they surrendered to enter Brown’s home. As associate of Brown required them to sign a non-disclosure agreement as condition. Curran’s friend instead grabbed her phone and the two escaped to the property of Brown’s neighbor who called police.

In the video he posted, Brown denied Curran’s accusation and blamed media for demonizing. Brown, who insisted he is the victim, is slated to appear in court for arraignment on Sept. 20.
