Shepard, 41, marked the event in the tweet, saying that he has come out of his last toxic 12 year ago and added that he now has a wife, babies and some self-esteem.

According to The People, the "Parenthood" actor has been open in the past about his struggles with addiction and recently Bell shared that her husband's experience has transformed her own world view.

Bell, 35 said that seeing the world through his eyes has really opened hers to knowing that it is a disease and nobody is choosing to drink more than others. She added that such individuals does it because of a number of reasons and they all deserve to be given the attention of a mental health specialist, and not the county jail.
Bell noted that they are focused on making sure they are ingraining the same sense of open-mindedness into their daughters: Delta, 1 and Lincoln, 3.

"I am trying to teach my kids not be stunted by country lines, religious boundaries or language barriers. And that all beings in the world are part of someone's family hence, they should be treated as such," she said. According to her, it is so simple to get caught up in lines that divide people and she think it is important to remind all that we they are the same and everyone is doing the best they can with what they have.

Shepard and Bell started dating just four years after he got sober with the road to recovery been marked by many ups and downs, The Huffington Post reported.

Back in 2012, Shepard told Playboy that he just loved to get fucked up - drinking, cocaine, opiates, diet pills, pain pills, marijuana, everything.

Earlier this year, Shepard bravely came forward about being molested at age 7, and how that experience sent him down a destructive path of abusing drugs and alcohol.
