Canadian actress Tara Yelland will star in the highly anticipated film "Small Crimes." She will star alongside Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who portrays one of the central characters of HBO's fantasy series "Game of Thrones."

"Small Crimes" is about a disgraced former cop Joe (Coster-Waldau) who has just been released from a six-year prison sentence for attempted murder. While looking for redemption, he ends up trapped in a mess.  Yelland plays the star of a local strip club who is drawn to danger.

In her dark role on "Small Crimes," Yelland had to do many things she has never done before, such as gun firing, with lots of blood and stunts. It gives her the chance to play a hardened character which is a different experience for her as an actress. She was taught about drug paraphernalia and how to use them, but only for acting.

While Toni and Yelland have less similarities, the actress sympathizes for her character who, beneath her hardened façade, is as vulnerable as anyone. Toni is just a woman who is looking for a way out.

Yelland is excited to be in a film with a phenomenal cast and fantastic script. The actress is a fan of Jamie Lannister, Coster-Waldau's iconic character in "Game of Thrones." She found out working with him is not at all strange as the actor is a true listener, according to Ground Report.

Aside from Coster-Waldau, the project has top caliber actors, including Michael Kinney ("Degrassi") and Emmy nominees Gary Cole ("VEEP") and Moly Parker ("House of Cards"). Oscar nominees Robert Forster ("Jackie Brown") and Jacki Weaver ("Sliver Linings Playbook," "Animal Kingdom") are also on board.

On the directorial chair is E.L. Katz, whose directorial debut "Cheap Thrills" premiered at SXSW got the Midnighter Audience award. Producing is Rumble Films' David Lancaster who has "Drive," "Nightcrawler" and "Whiplash" to his credit.

Weaver is repped by Elevate Entertainment and ICM while Forster, by Anonymous Content and Don Buchwald and Associates. Representing Cole are Envoy Entertainment and Gersh Agency while Parker is repped by Circle of Confusion and CAA.

The theatrical release of "Small Crimes" will be in 2017 as announced at Cannes Film Festival by Memento Films International. The film will be sold by Memento, Deadline reported.
