"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will be the last installment for the hit The CW series so old cast members are expected to return.

Just recently, it was confirmed that Michael Trevino's Tyler Lockwood will be back, and he will first be seen in season 8, episode 3.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Tyler will come face-to-face with Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) in the said episode. Unlike in the previous seasons when the two male characters didn't necessarily have a good relationship, Tyler will return to Mystic Falls this time around to talk some sense into Damon.

In the final for season 7, it was revealed that Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) have both turned to their bad sides while they were trapped inside the Armory vault.

Unfortunately, Damon won't necessarily listen to what Tyler has to say because the former is also being influenced by the villainous character in the series.

Meanwhile, Malarkey spoke with Showbiz Junkies last month to dish on what will happen to his character and Damon while they are on a killing spree.

"We will find out why and what they're driven by and it's something to do with this new supreme evil that has been lurking in the vault, that has escaped the vault. Enzo, however, is kind of grappling with this a little bit more, he's fighting it a bit more than Damon and how we start the season is seeing the whole relationship with Damon and Enzo and this creature, you can call it," he said.

In other news, there are rumors that "The Originals" characters Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Rebecca (Claire Holt) will also return to the final season of "The Vampire Diaries." Fans are eager to see Klaus win Caroline (Candice Accola-King) back so the character can crossover to "The Original" next season.

"The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" executive producer Julie Plec previously told TV Line that she's pleased with the crossover from season 7. After "TVD" ends, Plec said that she's hoping some of the characters from the show can head to New Orleans to be with the Mikaelsons.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
