Reports about Michael Schumacher's recovery, which previously stated that the seven-time Formula 1 champion was responding well to treatment and may even recover, have since proven null overtime as the racer remains in a delicate condition.
The German driver suffered severe head injuries while skiing back in December 2013 at the Alpine resort of Meribel. Despite various contradictory reports concerning his health updates, he has, since, only recovered from a coma and has been receiving treatment at his home on the shores of Lake Geneva, Telegraph reported.
While Schumacher's family declared the private nature, they expect regarding the 47-year-old Formula 1 champion's condition, his first sponsor and former head of Sports Marketing for Mercedes, Gerd Krämer, revealed that the racer was in a crucial state. He said that it would take a miracle for fans to see him walking again, Express reported.
Kramer's story saddened Schumacher's fans, especially because it followed what seemingly appeared to be exaggerated updates by former Ferrari chairperson Luca Cordero di Montezelmo. Montezelmo had earlier mentioned that Schumacher was responding well to treatment and that he was making real progress. This, however, contradicts Kramer's revelation.
Schumacher's fans are, however, hopeful that he will recover given his strong nature and determination. One of his fans and F1 racer Felipe Massa even paid him tribute for being his mentor by dedicating to him his last race and retirement.
After 11 wins, 16 pole positions, and 41 podiums, Massa announced his retirement at the Italian Grand Prix, just as his idol Schumacher did ten years ago. Massa's contract is, however, expected to expire at the end of this season after which he will end his time in the Formula 1.
Meanwhile, Schumacher's family has not opened up to the public regarding the current condition of the 47-year-old F1 champion. His son, Mike Schumacher Junior, however, continues to walk in his father's footsteps after earning several wins in the German F4.
Mike reportedly joined Prema Powerteam and is expected to represent the team during the Italian Formula 4 and the ADAC Formula 4 Championships. Watch Schumacher's tribute in the video below:
