The rumors may have made many of the series' avid fans happy. However, sources from Park and Kim's respective entertainment agencies told Sports Chosun that they never received any information about drama extension, Soompi reported.

The sources added that if the KBS drama team were looking to add two more episodes, then they would have been advised of the change in production plans. Discussions about the show's extension would have also commenced given the necessary schedule adjustments that need to be made. "But as of right now, we haven't been told anything about an extension," the sources stated.

Kang Byung Taek, a content producer for the drama, also shared that the idea to add two more episodes to the historical series' original 20-episode run has been discussed internally at KBS. Although they have yet to confer with the drama's writer, as well as its cast and crew members, as indicated in the same report.

However, it may not be easy to add more episodes to the KBS series, according to Kang. He made mention of the show's script writing process and the difficulty in potentially extending the hit drama.

On the other hand, "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" has gained criticisms from some viewers on a scene that involved Kim's character Hong Ra On, allkpop reported. Hong is a young girl who became an eunuch for Park's Crown Prince character while pretending to be a boy. One of the scenes in the drama showed a quick shot of Hong wrapping a fabric across her chest to disguise her true identity.

Some viewers reported the said scene as inappropriate since the 16-year old actress is still a minor. The complaints led to the Korea Communications Standards Commission to conduct a review of the drama, as stated in the same report.

"Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" airs every Monday and Tuesday on KBS.
