PC gamers who want to upgrade their Maxwell card are waiting on the cheaper NVIDIA GTX 1050 graphics card that is expected to take on the AMD Radeon RX 470 and the RX 460.

While the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070 are selling like hotcakes, they are not affordable for most mainstream gamers. The RX 460 could be the most affordable next-gen video card out in the market today but NVIDIA's GTX 1050 is still expected to trump the Polaris card.

Several reports have already posted leaked GTX 1050 specs and they are turning out to be what is just as expected. It will be less powerful than the GTX 1060 3GB model which was expected earlier to be the actual 1050 card.

Analysts speculate that the NVIDIA GTX 1050 will sell below the $200 price tag of the GTX 1060 considering that it would be less powerful, Christian Today has learned. Some are still hoping that it would compete around the $99 price range of the Radeon RX 460.

Interestingly, the GTX 1050 will reportedly have 4GB of GDDR5 memory. Will it be faster than the GTX 1060 3GB model? Not necessarily as it would have significantly less CUDA cores and a slower core clock of just 1316MHz which is still faster than the current GTX 950.

The NVIDIA GTX 1050 release date could still be delayed as there are reports of the company experiencing supply problems once again. NVIDIA could launch the GTX 1050 in the later part of September as they also attempt to pick up the pace, Digitimes reported.

NVIDIA has been selling more GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 cards since their release and while it might have slowed down with the release of the Polaris cards, some people are still preferring to upgrade their PCs with the high-tier Pascal cards.

Interested customers will just have to wait for NVIDIA's official announcement regarding the GTX 1050 including the price, release date and final specs. Other manufacturers could also offer hints and teasers regarding their custom GTX 1050 cards in the following weeks as the launch date nears.
