"Law & Order: SVU" Season 18 episode 1 spoilers suggest a twisty case that the team will resolve when the season opens. According to the Cartermatt's description of "Terrorized," the team discovers a young boy lost in Central Park. A search for his parents begins when the team uncovers a stunning clue revealing a planned mass casualty event in the city.

With the help of a joint-terrorism task force, the investigation moves forward and the team looks for the suspects and their motive behind the act of brutality. The boy's mother claims to have been raped and tortured. Despite their differences, Benson must convince Barba to address boy's mother's allegations.

Meanwhile, the team continues to mourn the death of Mike Dodds that took place in Season 17 finale. As for Olivia, she begins to feel the pressure of the guilt.

"She blames herself for what happened and, as a result, will be even more protective of her team going forward," Mariska Hargitay told Entertainment Weekly. "She and her squad are having to adjust to this new normal. Benson will also have to deal with how this affects her relationship with Chief Dodds, Mike's father. Emotionally, it's still raw and upsetting for Olivia; there's a lot of guilt there, and we see it in her tension with Chief Dodds. Practically, the squad is a man down, a serjeant down. Fin is a reluctant second in command, so we're a leader down, too."

This will result in Hargitay looking for redemption in situations where she shouldn't be. She "tries to insert herself into situations that she shouldn't," the new showrunner Rick Eid added.

In addition, fans should not lose hope for Ed Tucker and Olivia Benson. In the finale, it seemed like Tucker was going to ask Benson out. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

"She wants to be, but the emotional fallout of Mike's death is causing her to question everything," Hargitay said.
