Las Palmas began the season strong, winning two straight lopsided games over Valencia and Granada before succumbing to a 1-2 loss to Sevilla in their third match.

The team split their last two assignments, pulling off a 1-0 win over Malaga then dropping a disappointing 1-4 game to Real Sociedad on Wednesday at the Anoeta Stadium for their second loss this season, as per ESPN.

Sociedad forward Willian Jose scored right at the first minute of the game before Las Palmas' Ghanaian winger Kevin-Prince Boateng was sent off at the 21st minute for a hand ball in the penalty area.

Carlos Vela then converted the ensuing penalty kick to give the hosts a 2-0 lead. Afterward, Txuriurdin took advantage of the 10-man side of head coach Quique Setien to score the next two goals, courtesy of David Zurutuza at the 35th and Jose's second goal at the 53rd, to build an insurmountable 4-0 advantage.

The visitors managed to score a consolation at the 56th with a right-footer from Tana to avoid a shutout.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid snapped their four-game winning run after settling for a 1-1 draw with Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium also on Wednesday, Goal reported.

Villarreal captain Bruno Soriano netted the game's first goal via a penalty kick in the first half injury time off a handball by Real captain Sergio Ramos.

Ramos atoned himself for his mistake by scoring the equalizer at the 48th minute, but Los Blancos was not able to get the winning goal as both teams remained scoreless for the rest of the match.
