A spokesperson of Motorola has confirmed that the company will be releasing Android 7.0 Nougat for Moto Z and Moto G4 series in the last quarter of 2016.

According to Droid-Life, the spokesperson has revealed that users can "expect to see Android N on the Moto Z family and Moto G4 beginning in Q4." The third quarter of the year is about to end in few days which indicates that the Android 7.0 Nougat for aforementioned devices will begin in October.

As of this writing, only the owners of Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play Droid, Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4 Play across the world are going to receive Nougat update starting from October until the end of the year. Interestingly, the spokesperson has not revealed any details on when the Nougat update will be available for older devices from Moto G and Moto X series.

It clearly indicates that Motorola will give priority to its 2016 devices when it comes to releasing Android 7.0 Nougat update. The publication has confirmed that Motorola is testing the performance of the new software for its smartphones. However, it will be sharing the specific timing and related details of the update later.

Motorola has also released Moto E (Gen 3) and Moto E3 Power smartphones in this year. However, the Motorola spokesperson has not spoken anything about these devices. Hence, there is a possibility that these devices may get Android 7.0 Nougat in early 2017.

Android 7.1 Nougat Update

Google usually follows a pattern of releasing the new version of Android OS through the new Nexus smartphones each year. However, in this year Google has opted for a different strategy as it has already released 7.0 Nougat update to existing Nexus devices like Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Pixel C.

Rumors have it that its upcoming flagship smartphones, Pixel and Pixel XL would be arriving preinstalled with Android 7.1 Nougat update, Venture Beat reported. These smartphones are expected to get unleashed to the world on Oct. 4.
