"Moonlight Drawn by Clouds," a KBS historical drama, retained its first place in a TV popularity chart for the third consecutive week. The series topped several South Korean programs such as the Lee Jong Suk drama "W - Two Worlds," the SBS series "Scarlet Heart Ryeo" and other variety shows.

The latest Content Power Index (CPI), a Nielsen Korea and CJ E&M developed report, identified "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" as the most popular TV program for the week period of Sept. 19, Yonhap News reported. The CPI report tracks and measures the popularity of various South Korean TV shows based on keyword search, social media activity, as well as the page view count of applicable online news.

The KBS series has been on the said index's number one spot for three consecutive weeks. In the latest CPI TV popularity chart, Park Bo Gum's historical drama garnered 286.1 points while the variety show "Infinite Challenge" came in at second place with 262.5 points. The KBS series' Monday-Tuesday primetime drama rival "Scarlet Heart Ryeo" nabbed the third spot with 250.1 points followed by Lee's "W" with 230.5 points.

Many fans have expressed their love and support for the KBS drama, also known as "Love in the Moonlight." Its viewership share also remained strong with double-digit TV ratings that already surpassed the 20 percent mark.

The series features a storyline that contains a mix of romance, drama and political intrigue set during the Joseon dynasty. Park plays the Crown Prince Yeong while Kim Yoo Jung portrays Ra On, an eunuch who is actually a young woman in disguise.  

Meanwhile, a Good Data Corp. popularity chart identified "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" as its most popular drama for the fourth week in a row, Korea Herald reported. The KBS drama scored 22.8 percent on Good Data Corp.'s chart, followed by "Scarlet Heart Ryeo" and "Jealousy Incarnate."

The two SBS dramas posted a score of 16.3 percent and 10.9 percent, respectively. tvN's new drama "The K2" nabbed the fourth spot with a 6.9 percent score while the drama "On the Way to the Airport" secured the fifth place with 6.1 percent.
