The Brooklyn Nets will stand behind their players as far as making as stand on social injustices as a team. This means the Nets are following the lead of Jeremy Lin who said he would only kneel if it was done in unison.

As covered in a previous post here in Yibada, Jeremy Lin was seen as one of the more likely NBA players to follow the protest being made right now by Colin Kaepernick in the NFL. Lin has gotten his fair share of racial issues, capped by flagrant fouls which fans believe were being let off easy.

However, the current issue goes beyond the bumps and bruises that Jeremy Lin has collected so far. It covers more on the police brutality and social injustices meted on colored people.

Lin has been known to sound off on racial discrimination but made it clear that he would only take a knee if it were done by the team as a whole, the New York Daily reported. Should Lin and the Nets do so, it could lead to something big.

While teammate Brook Lopez seconded that move, it seems that he entire Nets team may do so as well. First-year head coach Kenny Atkinson did encourage the players to stand and respect the anthem but nevertheless added that he would respect the individual rights of his players to protest the whole row, the New York Post reported.

There is no word right now on whether the Nets will do it as a team but the good side of it all is preaching the unity from within their ranks. One of the big expectations for Lin this coming season is to evolve into a leader and his dish is proof that he may be on the right track.

The Nets open the preseason against the Detroit Pistons on Oct. 6 and will have their first regular season game against the Boston Celtics on Oct. 26. As detailed by Atkinson, general Sean Marks and the rest are on the same page but have no official decision for now on what the team plans to do for both play dates.
