Niantic is planning to rollout a new "Pokémon GO" APK feature that would help players catch more rare creatures as time passes by.

Players who catch more of the same type of Pokémon will also have a higher chance of catching rare Pokémon with the same type. For instance, somebody who catches more Pidgeys could eventually have a higher percentage chance of catching rare or even legendary flying types.

It is unclear whether Niantic will rollout the feature and players have to start off again with a fresh count or all of their catches will already be accounted for when it launches. Niantic said that "Pokémon GO" players will have the catch type bonus the more they catch the same type of Pokémon over time, Kotaku has learned.

The developers did not say whether there will be a limit or threshold to how many bonuses a player can keep. A high enough rate could lead to instant rare catches which could ruin the whole concept of rare Pokémon in the first place.

Niantic said: " We are adding a new feature which grants a catch bonus when you earn medals based on catching certain types of Pokémon (Kindler, Psychic, Gardener, etc.). These new bonuses will give you a better chance of capturing Pokémon with a related type."

There is no word on when the new "Pokémon GO" update will be released but Niantic said that it is "coming soon," Polygon reported. The update could be expected as early as within the next two weeks according to their previous release of patches for the mobile game.

More good news as Niantic said that players who catch Pokémon with two types will both count towards the bonuses. The developers recently implemented the Near and Sightings feature to help players know where to go in order to catch what Pokémon they like and the new bonuses feature could improve their experiences again.

"Pokémon GO" APK updates are regularly rolled out as Niantic aims to catch more bugs and improve the game with new features. Niantic might announce when the rare Pokémon bonus catch rate will drop soon.
