Niantic is soon going to release a major update in the coming days. This update will bring the new capture bonus feature that will make it easier to catch rare Pokemon.
A report from Android Central that was published in July stated that medal system in Pokemon does not gain anything by unlocking medals. However, a new update is around the corner that will provide capture bonus to the players when they earn a medal.
How to Get Pokemon GO Capture Bonus?
In the Pokemon GO game, there are kinds of Medals such as Schoolkid, Black Belt, Bird Keeper, Punk Girl, Bug Catcher, Swimmer, Kindler and so on. These medals are given to players when they certain types of Pokemon. For example, when players catch Poison type of Pokemon, they can earn Punk Girl medal.
Pokemon GO Medals system has been in the game right from the beginning. However, as mentioned above, its existence was criticized as it did not allow players to gain anything when they unlocked medals. It only showed a small note that the medals have been unlocked.
Niantic has now announced a new upcoming feature called capture bonus for Pokemon GO. It will provide incentives for earning medals. Moreover, it will increase the chance of catching specific type of Pokemon as well as rare Pokemon.
How Does the Pokemon GO Capture Bonus Feature Work?
Here is an example on how the capture bonus feature works. A player can earn Gardener Medal on catch Grass type of Pokemon like Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Oddish, Gloom and so on.
The next update will make it possible to earn incentives for earning Gardener Medal. By earning more number of capture bonuses after gaining several Gardener Medals, the rate of catching Grass Pokemon will increase.
According to Niantic, 'Trainers can work their way to a new tier by catching many Pokémon of the same type. If a Pokémon has multiple types, your bonus will be the average of your bonuses for each type. For example, Pidgey is both Normal and Flying type. Your bonus in this case would be the average of your Normal-type and Flying-type bonuses.'
When Will Niantic Release Capture Bonus for Pokemon GO?
Niantic has only announced the capture bonus feature. The company is known for releasing Pokemon GO updates every two weeks. The last update was rolled on Sept. 25. Hence, the Pokemon GO update with capture bonus feature is expected to be available in by this weekend or next week.
