The series' showrunner added details to the character saying, "Danny Rand is a very complicated character. He's a billionaire New York Buddhist monk martial arts superhero who's still trying to figure out what exactly that all means," said Executive Producer Scott Buck.

Buck added that as soon as they saw Jones, they already knew he is the perfect actor to play the role of the protagonist. The showrunner even said that the former "Game of Thrones" actor is able to portray his role with confidence and at the same time vulnerability. He described Jones as someone who can play what is required of the show's main character.

Previously, "Iron Fist" was in hot waters for casting a blonde actor for the superhero role. Even though Daniel Rand does not originally possess Asian features, and actually has Western features like blue eyes and a blonde hair, followers of the said superhero are dismayed over the casting of Finn Jones, USA Today reported.

According to the report, this move was done so that the audience will be able to relate more to the story by putting a white actor to play a foreign role. But somehow, this takes away the place of Asians in the pop culture. But the report pointed out it is one of the ways to sell movies in Hollywood.

"Iron Fist" started out as a comic first published in 1974. During that time, martial arts were at its peak, and people were very interested in stories incorporated with the discipline.
