Chatwin is going to play a character who is a young man with an American accent, Radio Times has learned. He is going to have the quality of a superhero, but also have deep and dark secrets of his own. It is not however confirmed if he actually has super powers but it would however give the fans something to look forward to. Chatwin is known for his roles as Tom Cruise's son in "War of the Worlds" and as Goku in "Dragon Ball: Evolution."

Matt Lucas will be reprising his role as Nardole in the holiday special to fill the companion's shoes. He is also confirmed to appear again in season 10.Christel Dee said that Nardole is not different from the previous companions and that he could be considered as an "anti-companion," Breathecast reported.

Dee said: "He's kind of like, 'Can we not? No, Doctor, don't do that.' But not in a horrible way, in a really funny way, and they make such a great double act,"

So far, the totality of the plot is not yet revealed and who the villain would be. Capaldi also revealed that the tenth season will air somewhere in spring 2017, announcing that he is joined by a new companion, Bill, played by Pearl Mackie. There is also a hint from the announcement that Jenna Coleman might be back to the show as Capaldi said that they were filming something together after Coleman's exit from the ninth season. The Christmas special is set to air in its usual schedule on Dec. 25.
