CBS' "Criminal Minds" aired the second episode of season 12 this week which marked Thomas Gibson's final appearance in the series portraying BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) leader Aaron Hotchner. The upcoming episode will see Paget Brewster back as Emily Prentiss.

Fans believe that Gibson did not get a well-deserved exit from the show after being part of "Criminal Minds" since the first season. Gibson was fired from the show after an altercation he had with one of the producers and it has been reported that his exit from the show will be covered later on.

In the promo of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 episode 3, there was no mention of Hotch and his whereabouts. This is a big disappointment to viewers having in mind that Shemar Moore was given a wonderful exit from the show by choosing to be with his new family.

However, the highly anticipated episode will also see the return of Interpol Agent Emily Prentiss (Page Brewster) to the FBI as a series regular in a move to solve a case. Prentiss had left the show a few years ago.

Prentiss will reunite with her friends Dr. Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), J.J., Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness). The return of this beloved character will be good for fans who have been clamoring for her return.

According to a synopsis via SpoilerTV, the upcoming episode titled "Taboo," the BAU will welcome Prentiss back when she helps them solve a case. The team will be investigating the disappearance of three women. Later, they will find their bodies.

As the investigation continues, Reid observes that the serial killer's victims have chemical burns. In addition, Prentiss makes an interesting observation and she is trying very hard to hide the bodies. She encases them in layers of cement making it difficult for the FBI to find them.

Lastly, Hotch will be on a special assignment in the upcoming episode. It is not clear how "Criminal Minds" will write off this fan favorite character yet.

"Criminal Minds" showrunner, Erica Messer, told TV Guide that Prentiss and Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) will form a fun friendship after working on the case. The trailer, however, suggests otherwise.

It is rumored that something occurred on the field because Alvez tells her to keep what happened out there between them.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 episode 3 airs on Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
