2PM's Taecyeon is going from TV to the big screen. The 27-year-old rapper has nabbed a pivotal role in the upcoming mystery thriller movie, tentatively titled "House Above Time."

"House Above Times" follows an ordinary housewife, Mi-Hee (Kim Yunjin). She was imprisoned for the past 25 years after wrongly being accused of her husband's (Jo Jae-Yun) sudden death and son's disappearance.

In the upcoming film, Taecyeon is slated to play Priest Choi, the only person believes Mi-Hee. He investigates strange cases that take place at the latter's home.

"I'm happy and looking forward to being in the movie," Taecyeon said in a statement obtained by All Kpop. "When I read the script for the first time, I was so curious as to what the next page held. I enjoyed 'Lost' when I was a child, so acting with Kim Yoon Jin sunbaenim is the biggest reason why I chose this movie."

Principal photography for "House Above Time" is scheduled to begin later this month in South Korea. It will be directed by Lim Dae-Woong, whose previous projects include 2012's "Horror Stories" and 2006's "To Sir with Love." More details about the project will be revealed soon.

It is important to note that the upcoming mystery thriller movie could be Taecyeon's last movie project before he goes to the army. In the 99th episode of JTBC's "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator," the singer-turned-actor revealed that he will enlist as an active duty soldier in early 2017, Soompi reported.

Due to his poor vision and a dislocated shoulder back, the local government determined Taecyeon only fit to be a public service personnel. In spite of that, the "Dream High" actor is still resolved to enroll himself as an active duty soldier.

In order to undertake any active military duties, Taecyeon uncovered that he underwent back surgery in 2012 and 2013 to alter the herniated disk. It can be recalled that the "Let's Fight Ghost" actor had given up his permanent resident status in the United States with the goal that he can serve in the Korean military.
