Marvel's "Luke Cage" has just been released and fans are now waiting for "Jessica Jones"Sseason 2 which could take place before or after the highly anticipated "The Defenders" Netflix series.

"Jessica Jones" took on the Purple Man or Killgrave in Season 1 where the latter was killed in the finale. Some believe that he might still be alive because of the enhancement he received but the lack of news regarding David Tennant joining the cast once again could mean that his character is indeed dead for good.

In addition, "Daredevil" Season 2 also saw a little less of Wilson Fisk which means that Marvel is going for a new villain every new season. "Jessica Jones" Season 2 could see a new villain played by Sigourney Weaver which could carry over to "The Defenders," Gamenguide has learned.

The reveal was made during the New York Comic-Con panel for Marvel's "The Defenders" where Krysten Ritter, Charlie Cox, Finn Jones and Mike Colter were surprised along with the audience when Weaver stepped on stage. She was introduced as a villain for "The Defenders" but it was not announced which villain she will be playing.

Some expect that "Jessica Jones" Season 2 could also see another villain that is not played by Weaver, Ecumenical News reported. She could battle Ruby Thursday and Nuke once again played by Wil Traval.

Plotlines are still vague as of the moment as Marvel wants to keep fans excited for 2017 when their new series will be launched. "The Defenders" will see "Luke Cage," "Jessica Jones," "Iron Fist" and "Daredevil" team up to battle against a larger antagonist.

Weaver could play Ma Gnucci as the villain for "The Defenders" before "Jessica Jones" Season 2. Marvel will need to confirm the details in the following weeks or months as 2016 is nearly ending.

"Jessica Jones" Season 2 is set to launch in late 2017 possibly after "The Defenders" and the plotline is expected to be revealed next year. Nuke could most likely reappear in the new season along with a possible cameo from "Luke Cage" as well if he gets out of Seagate once again.
