Chievo and Milan are currently at the fifth and sixth spots of the league table after seven rounds of competitions. They are tied on points with 13 apiece, but the latter has a lower goal difference of +2 compared to the former's +3.

Chievo defeated newly-promoted squad Pescara, 2-0, in their most recent game on Oct. 1 on the road at the Adriatico Stadium for their third win in the last four rounds, as per SkySports.

Italian striker Riccardo Meggiorini broke the game's deadlock in the 76th minute as both teams went scoreless until then. Teammate Roberto Inglese doubled the lead nine minutes later with a right-footed shot off a Lucas Castro assist following a fast break play.

Meanwhile, Milan survived a seven-goal affair by nipping Sassuolo, 4-3, at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Oct. 2, Daily Mail Online reported.

Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura started the scoring in the ninth minute but the count was quickly leveled by Sassuolo forward Matteo Politano one minute later.

The visitors then netted the next two goals, courtesy of Francesco Acerbi and Lorenzo Pellegrini in the 54th and 56th, to blaze away to a 3-1 lead.

However, Colombian striker Carlos Bacca led an I Rossoneri comeback as he buried a penalty kick in the 69th to begin a wave of three goals. The next one came from midfielder Manuel Locatelli in the 73rd while the winning goal was hit by defender Gabriel Paletta in the 77th.

It was the fourth consecutive unbeaten effort for head coach Vincenzo Montella's side and also their third win in their last four outings.
