The WWE is planning something big for the 2017 Royal Rumble since it will be the event's 30th anniversary. The latest rumors have revealed some additional names that could come back at the Rumble in San Antonio next year.

According to Cageside Seats, the WWE might be trying to sign back Bubba Ray Dudley and The Boogeyman back in order to participate in the Royal Rumble. It is noted that Bubba Ray is teasing a future appearance at the event on Twitter.

The one-half of the Dudley Boyz is no longer with the company after not signing a contract extension, unlike D-Von Dudley. D-Von currently works as a producer and he recently produced the latest episode of Monday Night Raw along with Billy Kidman.

Bubba Ray has been teasing the arrival of his TNA gimmick Bully Ray in the WWE, a heel character that will surely help in establishing new faces. However, it would be difficult to use that name due to the word "bully," something the WWE is against.

The 45-year-old is no stranger to Royal Rumble returns since he was a surprise entrant at the 2015 Royal Rumble in Philadelphia. He entered at number three but he only lasted five minutes after being eliminated by Bray Wyatt.

On the other hand, The Boogeyman is finishing up his independent bookings for the rest of year which means he might be heading back to the WWE. He has made sporadic appearances for the company since his release in 2009 including as a surprise entrant in last year's Royal Rumble.

The 2017 Royal Rumble is being set up to surpass the attendance record for the Alamodome which has a seating capacity of more than 65,000. The WWE is trying all they can to make it a big deal but they will likely have difficulty in drawing a huge crowd.

The event is just three months away from WrestleMania 33 which is the company's biggest event of the year. Hardcore and casual wrestling fans will likely just spend a huge amount of money to watch WrestleMania live rather than the Royal Rumble.

According to The Inquisitr, the WWE have already contacted several legends like The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels to appear at the 2017 Royal Rumble. All three superstars are from Texas and they will surely help draw fans.

However, it should be noted that these are just rumors at the moment and nothing has been confirmed. The 2017 Royal Rumble will surely have surprise entrants and fans cannot wait to find out who they are. Check out the video below for Bubba Ray's return at last year's Royal Rumble.
