After the death of Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Sgt. Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) in "The Walking Dead" Season 7, a new character named King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) will be introduced. Viewers will see recognize this new character with his white dreadlocks and his loyal pet tiger Shiva.

In "The Walking Dead" Season 7 episode 2 titled "The Cell," King Ezekiel will not be seen onscreen. However, his presence will be felt in the episode as Morgan Jones (Lennie James) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) meet him in the compound of the newest colony of survivors called The Kingdom.

King Ezekiel and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) have something in common; they both hate Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). This means fans may rely on King Ezekiel in case Rick is is not up to the task of saving himself and his companions from Negan.

It is in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 episode 3 titled "The Cell" when viewers get to see King Ezekiel. In the episode, Negan will take Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is taken by to the home of the Saviors called the Sanctuary.

A battle between the Kingdom and the Saviors is expected in "The Walking Dead" Season 7. It has yet to be seen if this happens in "The Cell," in which viewers will also see Dwight (Austin Amelio) sent on a mission to bring back a runaway member of his group.

In the "The Walking Dead" comics by Robert Kirkman, King Ezekiel made his debut in issue 108. A zookeeper before the apocalypse, he was the master of Shiva, which he found with serious injuries and helped return to good health.

From 2006 to 2008, Payton played Josh in "Emily's Reasons Why Not." He also appeared in "How I Met Your Mother" in 2008, in "Criminal Minds" in 2009, "CSI: Miami" in 2010, "General Hospital" in 2011 and "Fairly Legal" in 2012.

Payton played Mr. Chanax in "The Amazing World of Gumball" Season 3 in 2014 and Ben Wheeler in the 2015 TV movie "Kingmakers." He is represented by Innovative and Gekis Ribera Management, according to Deadline.
