In a surprising turn of events, "Deadpool" director Tim Miller has left the sequel due to a reported creative clash with lead star Ryan Reynolds. Miller's departure from "Deadpool 2" mid-production does not seem to bode well for the movie project.

According to The Wrap, Reynolds and Miller argued about budgets and the direction they wanted to take for "Deadpool 2." While both sides said "creative differences" were the reason behind the rift, a source close to situation revealed that trouble already brewed for the movie's core group as far back as the time when the first "Deadpool" film was in production.

For the sequel, Reynolds, along with screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, were planning a "scrappy" and inexpensive movie, staying true to the tone of original blockbuster, which earned $780 million worldwide.

Miller, who is known for grand visuals, wanted to do a more stylish version of the sequel to be at par with other high-budgeted superhero flicks. The only catch, however, is that Miller's vision to cost three times more than the $58 million film Reynolds and company had projected. In the end, it was Reynolds' idea that won.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" director James Gunn commented on the matter, saying his disappointed that Miller is no longer onboard "Deadpool 2."

"Honestly bummed about Tim Miller leaving 'Deadpool.' He did an amazing job with the first one; I'd like to have seen where he'd go next." Gunn said on Twitter, as reported by comicbook.com. For Gunn, he is aware that keeping the core team together brings stability to the movie, which is why "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has retained many of the original people involved in the first film.

Following his exit, Miller has signed up for a movie adaptation of Daniel Suarez's cyber-crime thriller "Influx," which is also another high priority project at Fox.

In the meantime, there are still no plot details for "Deadpool 2." It is speculated, however, that Cable will take part in the next film as the main nemesis to Reynolds' witty-mouthed Deadpool. Casting for a mutant named Domino is also reportedly underway.
