French actor Anthony Delon, who worked with Massee on the 2014 French TV series "Interventions," announced his death in an Istagram post on Monday last week. He wrote "R.I.P. my friend Michael. You are five seconds from a clean gateway." Massee's Ellen told the New York Times that he succumbed to stomach cancer.

Known for his brilliant performances in "The Amazing Spider-Man" film series, Michael Massee was from Kansas City, MO. "The Crow" was his second film, where he played the role of Funboy. During the shooting for the film on March 31, 1993, the crew of the movie handed him a revolver with improperly prepared dummy cartridges, which accidently created a live round instead.

The revolver was meant for filming a scene wherein Massee's character Funboy kills Brandon Lee's character Eric Draven. Ignorant of the blunder committed by the crew, Massee fired the revolver at Lee, shooting him in the stomach. Tragically, Lee succumbed to his injuries on the same day following a futile surgery.

The accident traumatized Massee so much that he refused to watch the film on its completion. In fact, he took a sabbatical from acting for a year. During an interview in 2005, the actor confessed that he still had nightmares about Lee's tragic death, saying that he doesn't think that he would be able to overcome the horrendous accident, Deadline reported.

Massee returned to acting in 1995 and portrayed a feature role in "Tales From The Wood and Seven." That year, he also played the role of a terrorist in the hit Fox action series "24"Season 1. In 2005, he portrayed a Satanist murderer in the NBC mini-series "Revelations."

In 1997, Massee went on to appear in David Lynch's "Lost Highway" and David Fincher's "The Game." He also acted in Stephen Spielberg's "Amistad," and very recently portrayed a Marvel villain Gustav Fiers "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012) and its sequel "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" (2014).

The actor is survived by his wife and their two children. Watch how Brandon died accidentally while shooting for "The Crow" on March 31, 1993:
